Hello! My name is Brian Stern, and I’m a second year computer science honours student at McGill University. I have played piano casually for around 12 years, but I’m by no means talented at it…it’s just pretty fun. I’ve been seriously listening to music for about 4 years now, but I’ve been enjoying music ever since my brother showed me a few really influential albums when I was around 8.
Those albums are, in no particular order, Daft Punk - Homework, The Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole, and Crystal Method - Vegas. I highly recommend all of them, and any other piece of music I put on this blog.
Since then, I’ve expanded my taste across many genres of music, from electronic to hip-hop to a tiny bit of metal…but the vast majority of my library is electronic. Squarepusher is my favourite artist, and if you haven’t heard him before, he’s not easy to listen to (not in a bad way). To understand his music takes focus, but it’s extremely rewarding.
At any rate, that’s my musical background!
