Song of the Day: Round 8

First off: I made a change in the html formatting of the blog! Now links open in new tabs instead of changing the one you're in. We've all closed Youtube windows before thinking we'd be taken back to the previous page, but no more! Hooray!

Today's song of the day comes from a genre I've never had enough of: House! If you don't know house music, you may find that today it's devolved to a large extent to that "progressive house" (read: trance) crap that people seem to like these days. Anyhow! I'm talking about real house. 90s house, and the better stuff from this millennium. That includes (but is not limited to) Armand Van Helden, Mylo (one of my all-time favourite synths in this one), Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, Surkin, Daft Punk, The Twelves, Grum, Paul Johnson (check out the vocal sample on that one), Calvin Harris, and more. Good music! 4-to-the-floor beats for dancing, but musically good enough to keep you interested. The song of the day, however, is:

Pete Heller - Big Love

This is possibly my all-time favourite house song, or right up there at least. Like the guy in the Radio Soulwax Essential mix at 29:10 says, you have to play the full version! That's how you really feel the track. If you've got the essential mix, listen to that part! If you don't, get the essential mix. It's dope! Anyhow, enjoy!
